After 25 years, fourth generation of one of Mazda’s favorites is back. 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata will be completely redesigned but still true to its roots.
CHANGES AND IMPROVEMENTS
Fourth generation of the well-known roadster will undergo many changes, both on the inside and on the outside. This convertible coupe will feature a familiar KODO design language that is seen on some of the other Mazda’s models. New 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata will be smaller than the third generation of this model. It will have a smaller wheelbase and the overall length of the car will be shorter. This will also influence the weight reduction. Next to the smaller dimensions, helping the weight reduction is also the fact that Mazda uses lightweight materials in the production of the new Miata. Exterior of the new model will give the appearance of a modern and athletic look. On the front of the vehicle we will notice larger grille and wider bumper. Even with the size reduction, the inside of the new Miata is still spacious and comfortable. It features two seats that are expected to come in either leather or cloth, depending on the trim level. With so many changes happening to the new Mazda, we can expect to see a large improvement in performance.
2016 MAZDA MX-5 MIATA ENGINE
Depending on the markets, there is a possibility that we will be presented with two different engine options. In Japan, new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata will be powered by 1.5 liter SkyActiv-G inline-4 engine that will be able to generate 129 horsepower and 111 lb-ft of torque. In the United States we will most likely see a 2.0 liter SykActive 4-cyliner engine that will deliver 155 horsepower and up to 150 lb-ft of torque. Buyers will be able to choose between manual and automatic 6-speed transmission system.
RELEASE DATE AND EXPECTED PRICE
When it comes to the release date of the new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, it is still unknown but we can expect to see it on the markets in the summer of 2015. We should not expect a huge jump in price from the previous model. According to some predictions, the starting price for the new Mazda will be around $25,000.
